In any epoch of the past all aspects of human thought, activity and achievements have a claim on the historian’s attention. Learning to handle evidence is important, but history lies not in the documents but in the understanding we bring to it.

Whereas modern historical scholarship achieves a more or less steady output for all historical periods of East and West which are reasonably well documented, its choice of theme is much more subject to changing fashion.

However in any times there is some category of strange people who in spite of the general tendencies of new history in pursuit of government decreed attainment tests to research some fashionable themes, discover and devote themselves to investigation of ‘lost’ and ‘forgotten’ problems.
